The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A click noise may be heard at low speeds (under 10 mph) from the console area of the car. The click noise originates from the reverse lockout solenoid. The solenoid is disengaged when the vehicle speed falls below 5 mph and engages when the vehicle speed is greater than 7 mph for a minimum of 15 seconds. The use of the solenoid prevents accidental shifting into reverse gear while driving down the road.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This is an operational characteristic of this system. No repairs are recommended at this time.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
