GR. 3E Tire Staining Condition, Goodyear WW

We have been advised of a white wall staining condition on some 1981 "E" and "K" vehicles equipped with Goodyear P205/75R15 tires. The staining was caused by material in the tire bleeding through the white wall. Corrections have been made by the tire manufacturer. All Goodyear Field Product Service Managers are aware of pertinent details and have been advised to handle all customer comments from recent inventory.

GR. 8 V-6 Code 24 VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)

Diagnosis of trouble code 24, VSS, on 1981 C-body V-6 powered vehicles may indicate and lead the technician to the conclusion that the speed- ometer should be replaced. A/C Delco repair centers are now able to repair speedometer assemblies for this condition. To insure proper speedometer repair, specify in the "Nature of Problem" area on A/C Delco warranty claim form ACD-1078 "Code 24 VSS Problem".

Breakpoints for new relay in production are: C - 119399 E - 610714 K - 686931

The resistance test for the vacuum control and power unit solenoid valves printed on page 9-38 of the 1979 Cadillac Service Information Manual has the range for the resistance of the power unit valve at between 55 and 70 ohms in Step #3 of the procedure. The range should be between 36 and 48 ohms (at room temperature).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
