POOR PERFORMANCE - NO POWER - INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET

MODELS AFFECTED: 1982, 1983 AND 1984 ELDORADOS, SEVILLES, FLEETWOODS AND DEVILLES

Some Cadillacs equipped with HT4100 engines may exhibit conditions of poor performance, poor oil economy and/or excessive coolant loss. These conditions may result from leaks at the intake manifold to cylinder head seal (loose intake manifold bolts). To correct these conditions without removing the intake manifold, refer to Serviceman Bulletin 83-88, Group 6A.

When performing any engine procedure that requires intake manifold removal, a new "precrushed" intake manifold gasket kit (P/N 3634584) should be used.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
