MISSING PRESSURE REGULATOR BUSHING SPRING PIN - 1982 THM 325-4L TRANSMISSIONS
Some THM 325-4L service case packages (P/N 8635901) may have been assembled without a pressure regulator bushing spring pin (refer to Figure 1). The purpose of this pin is to prevent the bushing from rotating off location. Internal transmission damage due to improper lubrication oil flow could occur if a transmission is assembled without this bushing spring pin. If you receive a service case with the pin missing, you must install the 5.60 x 2.85 mm bushing spring pin, (P/N 9437415) into the case pin hole before using the case.
1. Install pin in case pin hole flush to 0.3 mm below face surface. Use care to not damage case face channels.
2. Visibly check bushing bore for burrs or chips. Clean pressure regulator bore before installing bushing.
3. When installing bushing, make sure that flat at end of bushing locates along bushing pin. The round oil hole in bushing must be visible through case channels after installation to assure proper lube flow.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
