WHEN ASSEMBLING THE 1982 THM 325-4L OIL PUMP, IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE OIL PUMP GEARS ARE INSTALLED PROPERLY. FOR PROPER INSTALLATION, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW. PUMP GEAR INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1.INSTALL THE DRIVEN GEAR MAKING CERTAIN THE IDENTIFICATION MARK ( ) FACES DOWN IN THE GEAR POCKET. SEE FIGURE 1. 2.INSTALL THE DRIVE GEAR WITH THE CHAMFER ON THE DRIVE TANGS FACING UP. SEE FIGURE 2. PLEASE USE THIS INFORMATION TO UPDATE YOUR 1982 THM 325-4L SERVICE MANUAL SECTION. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF PUMP GEARS CAN RESULT IN EXTREME WEAR TO THE PUMP GEARS AND/OR LOSS OF ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN CONVERTER HUB AND PUMP DRIVE TANGS.
