"E" - BEFORE 624038 "K" - BEFORE 689443 THIS CONDITION COULD BE DIAGNOSED AS: A.COMPRESSOR WILL NOT OPERATE WHEN SUFFICIENT REAR LOAD IS ADDED, OR B.SYSTEM WILL NOT EXHAUST WHEN SUFFICIENT REAR LOAD IS REMOVED. IF EITHER CONDITION IS ENCOUNTERED, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS: 1.VERIFY CONDITION USING STEPS 1 AND 3 OF SYSTEM CHECK PROCEDURE ON PAGE 3D-13 OF THE 1982 SERVICE MANUAL. 2.LOCATE AND DISCONNECT SIX-WAY BODY CONNECTOR (C347) AT REAR OF FUEL TANK. 3.BACK PROBE ELC HEIGHT SENSOR RESET CIRCUIT 120 (CAVITY C) AT BODY HARNESS SIDE OF CONNECTOR WITH A TEST LIGHT TO GROUND. 4.TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO "ON" POSITION AND OBSERVE LIGHT. A.IF LIGHT LIGHTS, CONDITION IS NOT COVERED BY THIS BULLETIN. REFER TO EXISTING ELC DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION. B.IF LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT, MOVE SHIFT SELECTOR TO REVERSE POSITION AND OBSERVE LIGHT. B1.IF LIGHT LIGHTS, SEE 4A. B2.IF LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT, TURN IGNITION TO THE "OFF" POSITION. RECONNECT BODY CONNECTOR AND PROCEED WITH STEPS 5 THROUGH 7. 5.LOCATE FRONT TO REAR BODY HARNESS CONNECTOR (C250) IN TRUNK COMPARTMENT AT REAR OF LH REAR WHEEL WELL. 6.USING A 4 INCH LENGTH OF 18 GA. WIRE AND 2 PLASTIC LOCK SPLICE CONNECTORS, INSTALL A JUMPER IN REAR BODY HARNESS AS SHOWN IN APPROPRIATE DIAGRAM BELOW. (THE JUMPER MUST CONNECT THE ELC RESET CIRCUIT 120 (CAVITY C) TO THE BACK-UP LAMP CIRCUIT 24 (CAVITY E)) ** DIAGRAM IN BULLETIN ** 7.RETEST ELC SYSTEM TO VERIFY PROPER OPERATION. FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, USE OPERATION NUMBER T6057 AT .4 HOUR.
