THM 325-4L TRANS OIL PAN LEAKS NEW ACCUMULATOR HOUSING

SOME 1982 AND 1983 THM 325-4L TRANSMISSION MAY EXHIBIT A TRANSMISSION OIL PAN LEAK WHICH IS CAUSED BY AN INTERFERANCE BETWEEN THE ACCUMULATOR HOUSING AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN. BEGINNING LATE IN MARCH, 1983, ALL THM 325-4L TRANSMISSIONS WERE PRODUCED USING A NEW ACCUMULATOR HOUSING (FIGURE 1) TO CORECT THE INTERFERANCE CONDITION. WHEN SERVICING ANY 1982 OR 1983 THM 325-4L TRANSMISSION FOR AN OIL PAN LEAK, INSPECT FOR INTERFERANCE WITH THE ACCUMULATOR HOUSING. (FIGURE2). IF AN INTERFERANCE EXISTS WITH THE ACCUMULATOR HOUSING, REMOVE IT AND GRIND, OR FILE A PORTION OF THE CASTING BOSS (FIGURE 2-- INSET). WHEN REMOVING THIS MATERIAL, USE CAUTION TO AVOID DAMAGING THE CUP PLUG. REMOVE ONLY A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF MATERIAL TO ELIMINATE THE INTERFERANCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN. SEE ILLUSTRATION

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
