Some 1986-1988 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience a rattle in the glove box area. This condition may be caused by the glove box bulb socket not retaining the bulb, which allows the bulb to loosen and rattle.
To repair this condition, perform the following:
1. Remove three screws (2) retaining glove box module and remove module (1), refer to Figure 1.
2. Remove four hinge screws (5) and remove glove box door assembly (3 and 4).
3. Remove seven screws and separate inner (4) and outer (3) glove box panels.
4. Install two 1/2 inch long 3/8" thick strips of self-adhesive polyurethane foam tape on the inside surface of the inner glove box panel. Position the foam so that it is touching the tip of bulb, refer to Figure 2. The foam tape can be purchased locally at most hardware stores.
5. Reassemble inner and outer glove box panels and install seven screws.
6. Install glove box door assembly and four hinge assembly screws.
7. Install glove box module and three screws.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
