Some 1981-1987 RWD De Villes and Broughams, and 1980-1985 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with a non-BCM controlled ECC system may experience a condition of no low blower operation. This condition may be caused by a crossfeed on circuit 976. Confirm a no low blower condition by selecting the low setting on the ECC head and checking the voltage across the blower motor terminals. If this voltage is above 6 volts, the ECC system is not achieving low blower operation. Repair this condition using the following procedure:
1. Cut circuit 976 on both sides of the center bulkhead connector (C101).
2. Run a jumper wire through an open connector cavity.
3. Splice the harness wiring to this jumper on both sides of the bulkhead connector.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
