The following list is provided to simplify dealership ordering of replacement transaxles. SRTA part numbers 8658900 and 8658913 have been superseded by 8659912 by incorporating the heavy duty park pawl during the remanufacturing process, thus eliminating two part numbers.
Additionally, three new part numbers have been released to the replacement program to cover three new transaxle models currently in production.
These models are revised for all altitude operation. They are equipped with an aneroid modulator, revised modulator valve, spacer plate, 3-2 downshift spring and throttle body to modulator vacuum pipe.
Orders for these three models are to be placed through normal channels. In the Dallas, Memphis, Atlanta and Miami Zones, order through DDAD distributors. In all other zones, orders should be processed through GMWDD.
Replacements will be shipped as expeditiously as possible. These revised models are to be used for vehicles originally equipped with those model designations, or in a high altitude area where the unit requires an exchange replacement due to a major failure.
Two service packages to improve shift pleaseability in high altitude areas are soon to be released. One will correct the 3-2 downshift bump and the other will correct for upshift quality. These packages will allow the earlier models to be updated to the level of the three new models. A Service Bulletin will be distributed detailing the application of the packages as soon as they are available.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
