Some 1984 and all 1985 Seville Elegantes and all 1986 and 1987 Eldorados and Sevilles are equipped with an anti-lacerative windshield as a standard feature of the vehicle. The plastic lining on the inside surface of this windshield reduces occupant laceration injuries. See Dealer Service Information Bulletin 84-I-29.
In the event that a vehicle equipped with such a windshield needs to have it replaced, the replacement windshield should be the same. On all repairs, it is suggested that the windshield be replaced with an anti-lacerative windshield. If the customer elects not to have an anti-lacerative replacement windshield, it should be so noted on the customer's repair order and a copy kept in the customer's file.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
