FUSIBLE LINKS MAY SHORT OUT REROUTE FUSIBLE LINKS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

Some 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience chafing and possible shorting of fusible links A, C, D, E, and H due to misrouting at the junction block (Figure 1).

Vehicles built prior to Vehicle Identification Number 608289 for Eldorados and 806056 for Sevilles should have the fusible links checked for chafing or shorting when diagnosing electrical circuits that use fusible links A, C, D, E or H. If incorrect routing and/or chafing exist, reroute fusible links (Figure 2) and repair links as required.

For warranty purpose, use Labor Operation No. T6167 at .2 hour for rerouting only. Use Labor Operation No. N1940 at .4 hour for rerouting and wiring repair.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
