GLOVEBOX DOOR HARD TO CLOSE RELOCATE DOOR HINGE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1996 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

Some 1986 Eldorado and Seville, instrument panel compartment doors may be difficult to close. This condition may be corrected by lowering the door hinge as instructed below.

Remove glovebox door and hinge. Refer to Figure 1.

1. Remove four glovebox module screws. 2. Remove glovebox module. 3. Remove four glovebox door mounting screws. 4. Disconnect lamp connectors. 5. Unclip harness from hinge assembly. 6. Remove four outer screws and reinforcement (Item 4). 7. Remove two mounting screws and hinge assembly (Item 3). 8. Notice two locating studs (2) one on each side of hinge assembly. 9. File the bottom of the locating stud slots as necessary to sufficiently lower the hinge assembly. (Figure 1, item 1).

Reassemble glovebox door and hinge.

10. Align hinge assembly in lower position. 11. Reinstall two mounting screws. 12. Reinstall reinforcement. 13. Reinstall four outer hinge screws. 14. Secure harness in hinge assembly clip. 15. Connect lamp connectors. 16. Align door to hinge assembly. 17. Reinstall four glovebox door mounting screws. 18. Reinstall glovebox module. 19. Reinstall four glovebox module screws.

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6177 at .3 hours.
