THM 440-T4 HARSH 3-2 DOWNSHIFT 17 TO 20 MPH. AT ANY ALTITUDE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1986 DE VILLE AND FLEETWOOD 1986 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

Some 440-T4 transaxles may exhibit a harsh 3-2 downshift while braking or coasting to between 20 to 17 MPH, followed by an acceleration.

Install the following four parts as a set to correct the condition.

Note: If the new pump has a 1 pin 3rd clutch switch, remove it and replace with the 2 pin switch from the original pump body assembly.

Refer to the 440-T4 Transaxle Unit Repair section of the appropriate Service Information Manual for service information.

Special Note: When servicing the transaxle of vehicles normally driven in high altitude areas for this condition, also install the 3-2 control valve spring package covered in Serviceman Bulletin T-87-43.

Use operation number K6570 at 2.7 hours for De Villes and 3.2 hours for Eldorados and Sevilles.
