1-2 SHIFT SHUDDER-THM 440-T4 REPAIR PROCEDURE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1987 DE VILLE, AND 1986-1987 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

Some production and SRTA THM440-T4 transaxles built prior to April 15, 1987 (Julian Date 105), may exhibit a 1-2 upshift shudder during li t to moderate acceleration. This condition may be caused by out of flat (thickness variation clutch plates. To repair this condition, replace the 2nd clutch plates with the service package described below. When servicing a transaxle for 1-2 shift shudder or performing any operation for which an overhaul package is used, discard the fiber plates from the package and the original steel and fiber plates from the 2nd clutch assembly. Use the appropriate service package listed below.

NOTICE: 1987 steel plates are .075" thick. 1985 & 1986 steel plates are .088" thick. Do NOT interchange these plates.

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation K7535 at 6.0 hours for DeVille/Fleetwood and 6.6 hours for Eldorado and Seville.
