Some 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles may arrive at Dealerships with up to three (3) clear plastic protective coverings on the CCDIC unit. One covering may be placed over the entire unit faceplate with an additional one on each of the two lenses. These protective coverings should be removed during Dealer pre- delivery inspection. Service replacement CCDIC units should also be inspected for inclusion of these covers.
Failure to remove the coverings may result in blistering and/or fogging of the plastic covering later in the vehicle's life. This blistering/fogging condition will not warrant replacement of the CCDIC component, but simply the removal of the protective covering at that time.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
