FRONT DOOR WINDOW RATTLE OR CHATTER NOISE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986 'E' Styles Built Prior to VINs 1G4EZ57B3GU402576 (Buick), 1G3EZ57B6GU301861 (Olds.) and 1G6EL5785GU602775 (Cad.)

All 1986 'E' styles build prior to the following VINs 1G4EZ57B3GU402576 (Buick 'E' styles), 1G3EZ57B6GU301861 (Oldsmobile 'E' styles) and 1G6EL5785GU602775 (Cadillac 'E' styles) that exhibit a chatter or rattle condition in the door glass area, can be repaired using the following rework procedure:

1. Remove door glass assembly (see procedure in Section 5 of the Service Manual).

2. Lay glass assembly on a flat protected surface and using a sharp knife, scribe a line 4mm (11/64 inch) on the rear guide assembly as shown in Figure 1.

3. Using a coarse file, file off 4mm (11/64 inch) of rear guide as shown in attached illustration (make sure finished edge is smooth by filing edge using a fine file).

4. Install door glass assembly.
