BCM EEPROM CHIP EXCHANGE PROCEDURE / REPAIR CENTERS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986 'E' and 'K' Models

The 1986 'E' and 'K' models Body Computer Module (BCM) includes an EEPROM that contains specific vehicle information such as: Vehicle Identification Number, accumulated vehicle mileage, certain vehicle options, and other information. Due to this information, an EEPROM CANNOT be exchanged from one vehicle to another. If the EEPROM malfunctions as indicated by BCM code B556, it will be necessary to obtain a replacement from the Technical Assistance Centre.

The following information must be given to the Technical Assistance Centre when ordering a new EEPROM:

TORONADO

1. Complete Vehicle Identification Number

2. Whether or not the vehicle was built for U.S. or Canadian operation (Z49)

3. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with twilight sentinel option (T82)

4. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with voice module option (UV1)

5. Current odometer reading of vehicle

RIVIERA

1. Complete Vehicle Identification Number

2. Whether or not the vehicle was built for U.S. or Canadian operation (Z49)

3. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with twilight sentinel option (T82)

4. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with lamp monitor and washer fluid level sensor (UV2)

5. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with Illuminated Entry (C97)

6. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with Theft Deterrent (UA6)

7. Whether or not the vehicle is equipped with Stereo radio (UM7), Graphic Equalizer radio (UX1), or Delco GM/Bose radio (UT7)

8. Current odometer reading of vehicle

SEVILLE AND ELDORADO

1. Complete Vehicle Identification Number 2. Whether or not the vehicle was built for U.S. or Canadian operation (Z49) 3. Whether or not the vehicle is two or four door 4. Current odometer reading of vehicle

The replacement EEPROM will be received with a claim form from Delco Electronics. The form is to be completed by the Dealership and returned to the Technical Assistance Centre with the malfunctioning EEPROM. One copy of the claim form is to be retained by the Dealership and attached to the repair order. Failure to return the malfunctioning EEPROM with the claim form will result in the assessment of a $200.00 core charge.

Zone offices will be notified of any EEPROMs not returned within 60 days. All replaced EEPROMs returned to the Technical Assistance Centre will be forwarded to Delco Electronics for evaluation and reading.
