Some early model 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles were produced without an operative transmission shift indicator display on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). This Vacuum Florescent (VF) display provides an additional visual check of the transmission position selected by the driver by highlighting one of the seven possible selections (PRND321).
This Special Policy provides for the installation of a new EPROM in the vehicle's Body Computer module which activates a lighted display in the instrument panel cluster indicating the transmission position selected by the driver (PRND321).
This particular enhancement will be provided at no charge to all owners of 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles, per the Vehicle Involved section of this bulletin.
There is no mileage limitation on the provisions of this Special Policy, however, this special Policy adjustment offer will expire June 30, 1987. This special Policy Adjustment Bulletin should be filed in the three ring binder furnished to Dealers during September, 1982.
OWNERS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS OF CANADA LIMITED. A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER IS ATTACHED.
All 1986 Cadillac Eldorados and Sevilles within the following VIN ranges are eligible for this Special Policy Adjustment:
Eldorado - GU600001 through GU604414 Seville - GU800001 through GU803180

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
