Some 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles with wood trim, may experience unwanted horn operation. This condition typically occurs in hot weather. To repair this condition, a new cruise control and horn switch assembly (P/N 17987264) has been released (see Figure 1, item 1). To install the new assembly, follow the instructions below.
1. Remove two screws from back side of steering wheel.
2. Remove horn pad (pull off).
3. Disconnect electrical connectors.
4. Remove cruise control and horn switch assembly by removing the 2 bolts then the 3 nuts from the back side of the horn bad.
5. Install new cruise control and horn switch assembly. Repace nuts and bolts in back of horn pad.
6. Connect electrical connectors.
7. Reinstall horn pad.
