CHARGE LAMP ON/CODES E47/F32 DIAGNOSIS FOR POOR GROUND

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986-87 DEVILLE, ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

Some 1986-87 DeVilles, Eldorados, or Sevilles may experience intermittent no charge lamp illumination and/or codes E47 or F32. This condition may be accompanied by any of the following:

- FLICKERING "SERVICE SOON" OR "ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM" LIGHT. - FLICKERING "SERVICE NOW" OR "ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM" LIGHT. - ERRATIC FUEL DATA PANEL. - ERRATIC CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL.

The cause of this condition may be a poor ground connection between the capacitor and distributor base due to a loose or cross threaded hold down screw (see Figure 1). To repair this condition, make sure there is a star washer under the head of the hold down screw and tighten screw.

For warranty purposes, use Labour Operation J4430 at .4 hour.
