Some 1986-1989 Eldorados and Sevilles may exhibit a condition of the trip odometer displaying all zeros, while the season odometer continues to accumulate mileage. This may be due to the trip reset button continuously resetting.
When working on a vehicle with this condition, replace the trip reset button with a known good button from another vehicle. If the trip odometer begins to accumulate mileage, replace the trip reset button, P/N 25079404.
Refer to Section 8C of the Eldorado/Seville Service Information Manual for trip reset button replacement procedure.
If the trip odometer continues to display all zeros with a known good trip reset button installed, exchange the IPC.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
