Some 1988 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience a condition of a ticking noise during operation of the windshield wipers. This may be caused by the windshield wiper arm striking the lower windshield reveal molding, see Figure 1. To repair this condition, use the following procedure:
1. Raise the hood.
2. Remove the wiper arm assembly.
3. Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm.
4. Remove the hose clips under the wiper arm to allow the wiper arm to rest on a flat surface as shown in Figure 2.
5. Bend the wiper arm at the point shown in Figure 2 until the measured distance is 25mm (1").
6. Reinstall the hose clips on the wiper arm.
7. Reinstall the wiper blade on the wiper arm.
8. Reinstall the wiper arm assembly.
9. Lower the hood.
10. Operate the wiper system at high speed, activate the windshield washer, and check for proper clearance.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6265 at .3 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
