RADIO LOSS OF MEMORY WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 CADILLAC E/K

Some 1988 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with graphic equalizer radio option (UUO) may experience loss of radio memory with key off due to an internal circuit board wiring condition. Vehicles affected fall within the VIN ranges listed below:

Eldorado: VIN 602780 - 604553 Seville: VIN 802357 - 803919

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Verify condition by keying off, wait 20 seconds and key on. Check to see if the radio resets to 1400 AM.

2. Verify 12 volt supply at all times on circuit 43 to the radio C4 connector pin 10.

3. If the wiring is OK, exchange the radio, P/N 16058406, through an authorized AC-Delco dealer.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
