BCM CODES DELAY REPLACE LEFT SWITCH POD

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 86-89 E/K

Some 1986-1989 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience BCM codes B120, B121, B122, or B123 and/or "XX Seconds Delay" message appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC) without a change in twilight delay setting. This condition may be caused by the left switch pod (headlamp switch). To determine if the left switch pod is at fault, remove the pod and check the date code (a four-digit code stamped on the top side of the switch). The date code can be read as follows: 8 198 -- 8 is 1988 calendar year and 198 is the 198th day of 1988. If the date code is before 8201, replace the switch pod with one bearing a date code of 8201 or after.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
