Some 1990 Eldorados and Eldorado Spring Specials may experience a condition where the rear seat back and cushion have a gap between them at the bite line. To repair this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove rear seat back.
2. Remove seat back cover.
3. Allow for the crushed condition at bottom of bun to relax from original assembly. Steam could be applied to crushed area to hasten the process. If steam is applied, dry the bun thoroughly before replacing cover.
4. Trim cording from binding material beginning at center of seat back (at armrest) to 4 inches up each side. Refer to Figure 1.
5. Sew new typar or equivalent binding material, 3-4 inches wide, onto original typar in trimmed area.
6. Replace cover. Take special care when reattaching cover around bottom of cushion. Pull cover just tight enough and roll binding material as necessary to provide a snug fit with minimal crushing of the foam bun.
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation C7278 at .9 hour and trouble code 92 when submitting claim.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
