Early 1993 Allantes were built with PCM's containing tin-plated connector pins. Later 1993 Allantes and all 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with 4.6L Northstar engine were built with PCM's containing gold-plated connector pins. When servicing a 4.6L Northstar PCM, the replacement PCM must contain the same type of connector pins (tin- or gold-plated) as those in the original PCM. 1993 Allantes containing PCM's with gold pins may be distinguished from early 1993 Allantes by a V4J RPO code on the service parts label.
Use the following chart to select the proper PCM service part number (the PCM service part number is on the PCM label):
Vehicle Service PCM P/N ------- --------------- 1993 Allantes without RPO V4J 16159277 1993 Allantes with PRO V4J 16180517 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles with 4.6L Northstar 16180517

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
