Some owners of 1993 Eldorado, ETC, Seville, or STS vehicles may comment of a rattle noise in the left rear corner of the car over bumps. This noise may sound like a noisy shock absorber or an exhaust system contacting the underbody. The noise may actually be caused by the fuel tank filler neck contacting the rear suspension support. Refer to Figure 1, View A.
To repair this condition loosen the clamps that attach the fill pipe and vent pipe to their respective hoses. Refer to Figure 1, View B. Move the hoses so that there is a 10mm (3/8") gap between the end of the hose and the hose stop on the pipe, then tighten the clamps. This wil force the fill pipe and vent pipe rearward in the vehicle to provide additional clearance to the rear suspension support assembly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
