SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON PROCEDURE TO ALLOW AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TO REMAIN IN LOCKED POSITION WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER IS SET TO "PARK"

MODELS: 1994 CADILLAC CONCOURS, DEVILLE, ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

SOME OWNERS PREFER THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FUNCTION (ADL) TO REMAIN IN THE LOCK POSITION WHEN THEY SHIFT THE GEAR POSITION TO "PARK". CURRENTLY, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FEATURE UNLOCKS THE DOORS WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER IS SET TO "PARK".

IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS FUNCTION (LOCK/UNLOCK), IT IS NECESSARY TO MOVE THE CIRCUIT CONNECTION AT CAVITY C13 OF THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE TO CAVITY C12 OF THE MODULE. A PORTION OF THE CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC APPEARS IN ATTACHMENT 1. (REFER TO SECTION 8A-132-10 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR THE FULL SCHEMATIC.)

THE COMPLETE PROCEDURE IS AS FOLLOWS:

1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.

2. THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE IS MOUNTED ON THE LEFT-HAND ELECTRONICS BAY (FIGURE 1) LOCATED IN THE FRONT LEFT-HAND CORNER OF THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. TO GAIN ACCESS TO THIS PANEL, REMOVE THE REAR COMPARTMENT FRONT TRIM PANEL FROM THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. REFER TO SECTION 10-8 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE.

3. DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR (FIGURE 1) FROM REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE.

4. USING J38125 TERMINAL REPAIR KIT, REMOVE 0.35 LT GRN WIRE FROM CAVITY C13 OF THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE CONNECTOR. SEE CONNECTOR FACE VIEW ON ATTACHMENT 1 FOR CONNECTOR PIN LOCATIONS. REFER TO SECTION 8A-5 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR CONNECTOR REPAIR PROCEDURES.

5. USING J38125 TERMINAL REPAIR KIT, INSTALL WIRE, WHICH WAS REMOVED IN STEP 4, IN CAVITY C12 OF THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE CONNECTOR.

6. CONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TO KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE.

7. INSTALL THE REAR COMPARTMENT FRONT TRIM PANEL IN THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. REFER TO SECTION 10-8 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
