REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) JAMMING

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO DELETE THE FLEETWOOD MODEL. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 53-90-02 (GROUP REFERENCE 9 - ACCESSORIES). *********************************************************************

SUBJECT: REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) JAMMING WHEN VEHICLE IS IN OWNER'S GARAGE (REPLACE RKE MODULE)

MODELS: 1994-95 CADILLAC CONCOURS, DEVILLE, ELDORADO, SEVILLE (WITH MODULE NUMBERS 16193106 AND 16215349)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) JAMMING WHEN VEHICLE IS IN THE GARAGE.

CAUSE:

DUE TO DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES, RKE JAMMING MAY RESULT FROM STANLEY AND MOROMATIC GARAGE DOOR OPENERS.

CORRECTION:

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE AND PARTS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO CORRECT THE JAMMING CONDITION (SEE ILLUSTRATION).

IMPORTANT: BEFORE BEGINNING THIS PROCEDURE, REFER TO BULLETIN #219004 (CADILLAC: T-92-73, GM OF CANADA: 93-9-117). IF REPAIRS ARE UNSATISFACTORY AFTER PERFORMING THAT BULLETIN, THEN PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING.

1. REMOVE TRUNK FRONT TRIM PANEL. REFER TO SECTION 9K OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.

2. REMOVE RKE MODULE FROM TRUNK PANEL. MODULE LOCATED ON UPPER LEFT SIDE OF PANEL.

3. ASSEMBLE NEW RKE MODULE, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK MODULE AND HARNESS.

4. INSTALL MODULE ONTO TRUNK PANEL.

5. USING OUTBOARD HOLE FROM OLD MODULE LOCATION, INSTALL SCREW AT HARNESS END OF MODULE, SLIDE OPPOSITE END UNDER UNIVERSAL THEFT DETERRENT MODULE, NO SCREW NEEDED. MODULE SHOULD BE PARALLEL WITH TRUNK PANEL TOP SECTION WHEN INSTALLED PROPERLY.

6. REMOVE PROTECTIVE PLASTIC FROM HOOK AND LOOP MATERIAL ON WIRING HARNESS AND ADHERE TO RKE MODULE SURFACE.

7. CLIP AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK MODULE TO LEFT UPPER METAL EDGE OF REAR SEAT PASS THROUGH SURFACE.

8. INSTALL TRUNK TRIM PANEL.

9. PROGRAM TRANSMITTERS. USE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 9K, TRANSMITTER BUTTONS ONLY NEED TO BE PRESSED ONCE TO PROGRAM FOR THE TRW SYSTEM, ALL OTHER STEPS ARE THE SAME.

IMPORTANT: IF BUTTONS ON TRANSMITTER ARE PRESSED TWICE ON SAME TRANSMITTER, THE SECOND TRANSMITTER CANNOT BE PROGRAMMED.

10. ADVISE OWNER OF CHANGES WITH TRANSMITTERS -

A. DEALER TO PROGRAM TRANSMITTERS. B. LOSS OF INTERIOR LIGHTS ONLY FEATURE. C. REVIEW NEW TRANSMITTER BUTTON FEATURES WITH OWNER.

LABOR OPERATION NUMBER: R4480 USE PUBLISHED LABOR OPERATION TIME. ADD 0.1 HR. TO RETROFIT TRW MODULE.
