THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO CLARIFY F.I.S. ACRONYM IN SUBJECT AND TEXT. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
1995-96 OLDSMOBILE AURORA WITH 4.0L ENGINE (VIN C - RPO L47)
SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON A POP NOISE DURING CRANKING BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTS. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD BE MADE AWARE THAT IF THE ENGINE DOESN'T START WHILE CRANKING AND THE KEY IS RELEASED (TURNED BACK FROM THE START POSITION/OR BUMP STARTED) WITHIN 2 SECONDS, PRESSURE RELIEF FROM THE F.I.S. (FLUID INDUCTION SYSTEM/INTAKE MANIFOLD) MAY OCCUR AND IS CONSIDERED NORMAL.
IF THE CRANKING TIME EXCEEDS TWO SECONDS AND THE ENGINE DOES NOT START, THIS EXTENDED CRANKING MAY BE CAUSED BY A FUEL SYSTEM LEAKDOWN CONDITION. REFER TO BULLETIN 476307 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSIS.
