Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to LO.
  3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to HI.
  4. Turn OFF the windshield wiper/washer switch.

Do the windshield wipers operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector C1.
  2. Turn OFF the windshield wiper/washer switch.
  3. Measure the voltage from the windshield wiper motor relay coil supply voltage circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

10.5-15 V

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector C2.
  2. Measure the voltage from the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit, terminal A, to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

10.5-15 V

Test the windshield wiper motor relay coil supply voltage circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the windshield wiper motor park switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement .
