  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Activate the windshield washer switch.

Does the windshield washer operate properly?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer switch signal circuit (w/o CE1) or the windshield wiper switch low signal circuit (w/CE1) to a good ground.
  3. Momentarily activate the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp stay illuminated after the windshield washer switch is released?

Test for a short to voltage in the windshield washer switch signal circuit (w/o CE1) or the windshield wiper switch low signal circuit (w/CE1). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement .
