Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Console Front Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the ashtray assembly. Refer to Ashtray Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  4. Remove the Driver Information Center Switch (DIC). Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  6. Remove the fasteners (1) from the radio and heater A/C control assembly.

  7. Object Number: 309004  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the following components:
  9. • The electrical connectors (1, 2, 3)
    • The antenna coaxial cable (4)
  10. Remove the radio and heater A/C control assembly.

  12. If you are using an exchange radio, perform the following additional steps:
  13. 8.1. Remove the bracket fasteners (3).
    8.2. Remove the 2 brackets (2) from both sides of the radio and the control assembly.
    8.3. Remove one 16 mm (0.63 in) plastic locating pin and clip stud from the rear of the radio.
    8.4. Remove the driver information display switch bracket (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. If you are using an exchange radio, perform the following additional steps:
  2. 1.1. Install the driver information display switch bracket (1).
    1.2. Install one 16 mm (0.63 in) plastic locating pin and clip stud to the rear of the radio.
    1.3. Install the 2 brackets (2) to both sides of the radio and heater/AC control assembly.
    1.4. Install the mounting bracket fasteners (3).

    Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical connectors (1, 2, 3).
  4. Connect the antenna coaxial cable (4).

  6. Install the radio and heater A/C control assembly.
  7. Install the fasteners (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the DIC into the console opening. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  10. Install the ashtray. Refer to Ashtray Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  11. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Console Front Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
