Power Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
• | LH power door lock switch |
• | RH power door lock switch |
• | Body Control Module (BCM) |
• | Power door lock system fuse for the power door lock and LT door
unlock relays - CONVENIENCE 20A |
Door Lock System Controls
The power door lock system can be controlled by any of the following:
• | LH or RH power door lock switch |
• | Remote keyless entry transmitter |
• | An automatic door lock function - Personalization |
Driver and Passenger Door Lock Operation
When either of the door lock switches are pressed to the lock position,
voltage is applied to the door lock control circuit. Since the unlock control
circuits are at ground potential, the door lock actuators go to the lock
position.
The lock function can also be accomplished by the BCM supplying voltage
to the door lock control circuit by any of the following:
• | A keyless entry lock transmission |
• | An automatic door lock function - Personalization |
Passenger Door Unlock Operation
When either of the door lock switches are pressed to the unlock position,
voltage is applied to the passenger door lock unlock control circuit. Since
the lock control circuit is at ground potential, the door lock actuators
go to the unlock position.
The unlock function can also be accomplished by the BCM supplying voltage
to the door lock control circuit by any of the following:
• | A keyless entry unlock transmission |
• | An automatic door unlock function - Personalization |
Driver Door Unlock Operation
When either of the door lock switches are pressed to the unlock position,
voltage is applied to the door lock unlock control circuits. Since the lock
control circuit is at ground potential, the door lock actuators go to the
unlock position.
The driver door unlock control circuit is a dedicated control only for
the driver door lock. This is done so that the driver door may be unlocked
by itself using a keyless entry unlock transmission or with an automatic
door unlock function - Personalization.
Anti-Lockout
This feature inhibits the power door lock feature when the key is in
the ignition, or the ignition is in the RUN/START position and any door is
open. This feature can be overridden by continuous activation of any power
door lock switch for 3 seconds.
Central Door Unlock
This feature will unlock the doors when the key cylinder unlock switch
has been closed for 1.5 seconds, or closed twice within 3 seconds.
Programmable Automatic Door Locks
Vehicles equipped with the automatic door lock option are factory programmed
to have the automatic door lock feature lock all the doors when the following
conditions are met:
• | All door jamb switch inputs are inactive. |
• | Vehicle is shifted out of the PARK position. |
This automatic door lock function will only occur once per ignition
cycle unless, any door jamb switch input changes state to active and back
to inactive. Then the automatic door lock feature will lock all doors again.
Once the automatic door lock feature has locked the doors, the automatic
door lock feature will then unlock all the doors once the vehicle is shifted
back into the PARK position or if the ignition key is removed from the ignition
switch. The automatic door unlock feature can be programmed to unlock the
driver door only if desired.
Unlock After Air Bag Deployment
This feature will unlock the vehicle doors, 15 seconds after air bag
deployment.
