J 28733-B Front/Rear Spindle Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 144025  Size: SH
  4. Insert the drift punch into the rotor and remove the wheel bearing and hub retaining nut and washer.
  5. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  6. Object Number: 161267  Size: SH
  7. Separate the drive axle from the hub using the J 28733-B .

  8. Object Number: 204183  Size: SH
  9. Remove the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts.
  10. Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector from the hub and bearing assembly.
  11. Remove the wheel bearing and hub.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 204183  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle.
  2. Connect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector to the wheel bearing and hub.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the wheel hub and bearing retaining bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel hub and bearing retaining bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

  6. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  7. Object Number: 144025  Size: SH
  8. Install the drive axle washer and retaining nut.
  9. Install the drift punch into the rotor and tighten the drive axle nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the drive axle retaining nut to 145 N·m (110 lb ft).

  11. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
