J 37043 Parking Brake Release Tool

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Loosen the park brake cable at the park brake adjuster.
  3. Disconnect the front park brake cable (3) from the park brake cable connector (1).
  4. Using J 37043 compress the park brake cable conduit and disconnect it from the underbody.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Remove the left sound insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  8. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  9. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  10. Remove the park brake cable retaining clip.
  11. Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake pedal assembly.
  12. Remove the park brake cable from the car.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the park brake cable to the park brake pedal assembly.
  2. Install the park brake cable to the car.
  3. Install the park brake cable retaining clip.
  4. Install the I/P sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  5. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  6. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
  7. Install the left sound insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.

  9. Raise and support the vehicle.
  10. Connect the front park brake cable (3) to the park brake cable connector (1).
  11. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
