J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation In Tires and Wheels.
  3. Loosen the park brake cable at the adjuster.

  4. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (1) from the equalizer (2).

  6. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  7. Remove the retaining clip from the park brake lever.
  8. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the park brake lever (3).
  9. Using J 37043 depress the locking tabs on the left rear park brake cable (2).
  10. Remove the left rear park brake cable (2) from the left rear caliper park brake cable bracket (1).

  11. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  12. Using J 37043 depress the locking tabs on the left rear park brake cable (2).
  13. Remove the left rear park brake cable (2) from the left rear support mounting bracket (1)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  1. Press the left rear park brake cable (2) into the park brake cable support bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  2. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  3. Install the left rear park brake cable (2) into the left rear brake caliper park brake cable bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  4. Connect the left rear park brake cable (2) to the left rear park brake actuator lever (3).
  5. Install the left rear retainer clip onto the park brake lever.

  6. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  7. Connect the left rear park brake cable (1) to the equalizer (2).
  8. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  9. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
