J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Loosen the park brake cable at the adjuster.

  4. Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (2) from the intermediate park brake cable connector (3).
  6. Using J 37043 depress the right rear brake cable locking tabs (2).
  7. Remove the right rear park brake cable (2) from the right rear park brake cable support bracket (1).

  8. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  9. Using J 37043 depress the right rear park brake cable locking tabs.
  10. Remove the right rear park brake cable (2) from the right rear caliper park brake cable bracket (1).
  11. Remove the retainer clip from the park brake actuator lever (3).
  12. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  1. Connect the right rear park brake cable (2) to the park brake actuator lever (3).
  2. Install the retainer clip to the park brake actuator lever (3).
  3. Install the right rear park brake cable (2) to the right rear caliper park brake cable bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  4. Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  5. Press the right rear park brake cable (2) into the right rear park brake cable support bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  6. Connect the intermediate park brake cable connector (3) to the right rear park brake cable (2).
  7. Adjust the park brake cable at the adjuster. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  8. Install the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
