Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the stoplamp/ABS/shift lock switch from the brake pedal. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement .
  4. Remove the torque converter clutch/cruise control release switch. Refer to Torque Converter Clutch/Cruise Control Release Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.

  5. Object Number: 695567  Size: SH
  6. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer (3) from the brake pedal clevis pin.
  7. Remove the foam spacer (2) from the brake pedal clevis pin.
  8. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal.
  9. Remove the accelerator cable form the brake pedal assembly. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.6L.

  11. Remove the brake pedal assembly to booster stud mounting nuts (1).
  12. Remove the brake pedal assembly to support bracket mounting bolt (2).
  13. Remove the brake pedal assembly from the car.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 752031  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake pedal assembly into position on the booster studs.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the brake pedal assembly to brake booster mounting nuts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal assembly to booster stud mounting nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake pedal assembly to support bracket mounting bolt (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal assembly to support bracket mounting bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  7. Apply a small amount of lubricant, (GM P/N 12346293) or equivalent to the clevis pin of the brake pedal.
  8. Connect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal clevis pin.
  9. Install the foam spacer (2) to the brake pedal clevis pin.
  10. Install the retainer clip (3) to the brake pedal clevis pin.
  11. Install the accelerator cable to the brake pedal assembly. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.6L.
  12. Install the stoplamp/ABS/shift lock switch to the brake pedal assembly. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement .
  13. Install the torque converter clutch/cruise control release switch to the brake pedal assembly. Refer to Torque Converter Clutch/Cruise Control Release Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
  14. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  15. Install the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
