Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2002 🢒 Eldorado 🢒 Steering 🢒 Steering Wheel and Column 🢒 Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle

  1. Install the steering column housing support assembly (3) with the dimmer switch rod (2) connected.

    2. Object Number: 299888 Size: SH
  2. Apply lithium grease to the exposed shaft engagement areas.
  3. Install the steering shaft assembly.

    4. Object Number: 343889 Size: SH
  4. Install the steering shaft assembly.

    5. Object Number: 343877 Size: SH
  5. Install the adapter and bearing assembly (1).

    6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the 2 hexagon washer head tapping screws (2).

    7. Tighten
    Tighen the screws to 5.5 N·m (49 lb in).

  7. If there is no sensor present, install the bearing retainer (1).

    8. Object Number: 343874 Size: SH
  8. Install the lower bearing seat (3).
  9. Install the lower bearing spring (2).
  10. Install the lower spring retainer (1).

    11. Object Number: 350830 Size: SH
  11. Perform the following steps if the hi resolution steering wheel position sensor is present.
    12. • Install the sensor adapter (1).
    • Install the hi resolution steering wheel position sensor (2).
    • Install the retainer sensor (3).
    • Install the steering shaft seal (4).

  12. If there is no sensor present, install the steering shaft seal (1).

    13. Object Number: 350862 Size: SH
  13. Install the seal retaining bushing (2).
  14. Install the lower spring retainer (1).
  15. Install the ignition switch assembly. Refer to Ignition Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  16. Install the steering column housing assembly. Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  17. Install the hazard knob.
