Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical 4.6 L.
  2. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 284266  Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the power steering pump.

  5. Object Number: 284268  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the power steering pump.

  10. Object Number: 323560  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering pulley (3) from the power steering pump.
  12. Remove the power steering pump and reservoir (2) from the power steering pump bracket (1).
  13. Remove the retaining clips that attach the reservoir (2) to the pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 323560  Size: SH
  1. Install the retaining clips in order to attach the reservoir (2) to the pump.
  2. Install the power steering pump and reservoir (2) to the power steering bracket (1).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the power steering pump to bracket bolts (4,5).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump to bracket bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pulley (3) to the power steering pump.
  7. Position the power steering pump assembly to the vehicle.

  9. Install the power steering pump mounting bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  11. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  13. Install the power steering cooler hose to the power steering pump.
  14. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical 4.6 L.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  16. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
