Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 323565  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering pressure hose (1) from the power steering pump (2).
  4. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining clip from the engine block.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .

  8. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt from the cylinder head.
  9. Remove the plastic line retainer (2).
  10. Remove the power steering pressure hose (1) from the power steering gear (4).
  11. Remove the power steering pressure hose (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering gear (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose at the power steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the plastic line retainer (2).
  6. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  7. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining clip to the engine block.
  8. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt to the cylinder head.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Object Number: 323565  Size: SH
  12. Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose at the power steering pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  15. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
