Installation Procedure

Notice: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.

  1. Install the engine oil pressure switch to the oil filter adapter.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the engine oil pressure switch to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    Object Number: 62336 Size: SH
  3. Install the new O-rings. Petrolatum may be used to retain the O-rings in the adapter.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the 2 bolts attaching the oil filter adapter to the engine block.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the oil filter adapter bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    Object Number: 62328 Size: SH
  7. Lightly oil the replacement oil filter gasket with clean oil.
  8. Important: Fill the oil filter with the engine oil.

  9. Install the oil filter.
  10. Tighten
Tighten the new oil filter to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

    Object Number: 481563 Size: SH
  11. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the engine oil pressure switch (1).

  12. Object Number: 739342 Size: SH
