    • J 26549-E Orifice Tube Remover
    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the refrigerant line screw and the clip.

  3. Object Number: 304966  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the evaporator inlet pipe connection.

  5. Object Number: 304968  Size: SH
  6. Use a J 26549-E to remove the expansion tube.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to coat the O-rings.

  2. Object Number: 304968  Size: SH
  3. Install the expansion tube into the pipe with the short screen towards the evaporator.

  4. Object Number: 304966  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the expansion tube dual O-ring joint.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the dual O-ring joint to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the refrigerant line screw and the clip.
  8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  9. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
