J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Important: The nuts (4) and ferrules (3) will remain on the condenser tube. Do not try to remove the nuts from the tube.

  3. Remove the nuts (4) from the refrigerant filter (1).

  4. Object Number: 718864  Size: SH
  5. Remove the refrigerant filter (1) from the condenser tube.
  6. Remove the O-rings from the condenser tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 718864  Size: SH
  1. Coat the new O-rings (2) with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  2. Install the new O-rings (2) to the condenser tube.
  3. Install the refrigerant filter (1) to the condenser tube with the flow arrow pointing toward the evaporator.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nuts (4) to the refrigerant filter (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  8. Leak test the fitting of the filter using the J 39400-A .
