Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 725884  Size: SH

    Important: The trunk release latch handle is serviced as one component part with the rear compartment lid latch release solenoid.

  1. The trunk release handle is not serviced separately.
  2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement in order to access the lock actuator.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. Disconnect the lock release cable from the key cylinder.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the lock solenoid to the latch.
  6. Remove the solenoid and release handle assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the solenoid and release handle assembly to the latch.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Connect the lock release cable to the key cylinder.
  6. Connect the electrical connectors.
  7. Secure the rear compartment lid trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  8. Close the rear compartment lid.
