Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the nut retaining the latch from the fuel filler pocket.
  2. Remove the rear compartment left side trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 655617  Size: SH
  4. Remove the grommet and latch (1) from the wheelhouse.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator (4).
  6. Remove the fastener (2).
  7. Remove the fuel filler door release actuator (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 655617  Size: SH
  1. Install the latch and grommet (1) through the hole in the wheelhouse.
  2. Align the latch with the rib on the fuel pocket.

  3. Install the nut in order to retain the latch (1) to the pocket.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Adjust the latch (1) in order to bring the door flush with the body.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 3 N·m (26.5 lb in).

  7. Position the fuel filler door release actuator (4) to the bracket using the locating tabs.
  8. Attach the actuator (4) to the latch (1).
  9. Install the fastener (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  11. Connect the electrical connector to the actuator (4).
  12. Important: The fuel filler door emergency release cable (3) must be visible in the cargo area through the slit in the rear compartment trim.

  13. Install the rear compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
