Luggage Compartment Description and Operation general
The rear compartment lid release system consists of the
following components:
• | Rear compartment lid release switch |
• | Rear compartment lid release relay |
• | Body Control Module (BCM) |
When the rear compartmnet lid release switch is operated, the trunk
release switch input is grounded in the instrument cluster. The instrument
cluster will send a class 2 message to the body control module (BCM). The
BCM will ground the coil side of the rear compartment lid release relay.
When the coil side of the rear compartment lid release relay is grounded
the switch side contacts close and energize the rear compartment lid release
actuator. The rear compartment lid will release.

Trunk Ajar Indicator
TRUNK OPEN - 24
The IPC illuminates the TRUNK OPEN - 24 indicator in the DIC when
the body control module (PZM) detects that the rear compartment is open
and the ignition is ON. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PZM
requesting illumination.
