Lumbar Component Replacement - Power Horizontal/Vertical Lumbar Relay

Removal Procedure

  1. The vertical lumbar relay is the relay next to the power seat motors, the horizontal relay is near the right inside seat track.

  2. Object Number: 741157  Size: SH
  3. With the aid from an assistant, remove the passenger seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement .
  4. Place the seat upside down on a clean protected surface.
  5. Disengage the connector position assurance (CPA) connector (3).
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the inoperative lumbar relay (2,5).
  7. Using a flat-bladed tool, release the retainer clip located between the seat cushion frame and relay used to secure the lumbar relay to the seat cushion frame.
  8. Slide the relay from the retention clip.
  9. Remove the inoperative horizontal (5) or vertical (2) lumbar relay.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 741157  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector (4) to the horizontal or vertical lumbar relay.
  2. Engage the connector position assurance (CPA) connector (3) to the electrical connector (4) on the relay.
  3. Position the relay to the retention clip on the seat cushion frame.
  4. Slide the relay over the retention clip in order to lock the relay into position.
  5. With the aid of an assistant, install the passenger seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement .
  6. Reposition the seat.
